The Shahenshah of Bollywood i.e. Amitabh Bachchan has completed 80 springs of his life. Amitabh, who is called the Big B of Bollywood, saw many ups and downs in his career. There was a period when he was declared bankrupt and came on the road. This happened because of ABCL, a company formed by him, which sank due to only five projects. This company was formed in 1996
ABCL i.e. Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited, the company whose foundation was laid in the year 1996. This was the first corporate venture of Big B to bring this company into existence. Amitabh had a dream that by the year 2000, the revenue of this company should reach 1000 crores. However, many of his decisions proved to be wrong, due to which the company sank and Big B was declared bankrupt.

This company was raised with Rs 60 crore
Let us tell you that Big B had raised ABCL by spending Rs 60.52 crore. His dream was to give a platform to different types of cinema with its help. The company made a profit of Rs 15 crore in the first year. However, despite the right start, many projects of this company have been unsuccessful. Due to this the company came in loss of Rs 70.82 crore.

ABCL submerged due to these projects
Now we are bringing you five projects that have caused serious damage to ABCL. This was the reason why Amitabh Bachchan declared bankruptcy and creditors started lining up at his doorstep. In an interview during 2013, Amitabh Bachchan had mentioned that period and narrated his ordeal.

1. Miss World Show: ABCL organized the Gala Miss World show in Bangalore. Due to this show, the company got stuck in financial crisis. Things got worse when the company could not give their money to its employees and the people involved in the show. Apart from this, the show did not garner as much buzz as it expected.

2. Mortality: Amitabh Bachchan’s film Mrutydata, made under the banner of ABCL, was a flop. Due to this also the company had to suffer a lot of loss.

3. Dreams of the Seven Colors: Despite the presence of all the legendary stars and Priyadarshan, the film failed to live up to the expectations. Due to this the financial crisis of the company got worse.

4. Abby Baby, The Music Album: The album did not manage to catch up with the likes of the audience. Due to this the project could not earn according to its cost.

5. What is the name: After the failure of four big projects in a row, the company invested money in the film ‘Naam Kya Hai’. Mukul Dev played the main character in this film. The film never got released and proved to be the last nail in ABCL’s coffin.

Big B came out of a bad phase like this
Amitabh Bachchan himself had mentioned that period of his. He had told that he did everything he could to overcome that period. Big B went to Yash Chopra and told that he is in dire need of a project. Yash Chopra was working on ‘Mohabbatein’ at that time. He decided to give an important role to Amitabh, which proved to be the most iconic role in Big B’s career and Bollywood history.
