There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro for quite some time now. Thankfully, we will soon have official confirmation of these rumors as Apple has just sent out invites for a special event scheduled for September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Although Apple has not directly mentioned the iPhone 15 series, they will likely unveil these new iPhones on that day.

What can we anticipate from the upcoming iPhone 15 event?

New iPhones! Apple will likely unveil the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max on that day. Arguably, the biggest change in these devices could be the retirement of the Lightning port in favour of USB Type-C. Additionally, the company could be replacing the mute switch with a customizable Action button, similar to that on the Apple Watch Ultra. Furthermore, we expect the tech giant to drop the stainless steel frame on the Pro models in favour of titanium.

As for the Apple Watches, it is anticipated that the company will unveil the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The former is expected to be a minor upgrade that concentrates on the chipset and performance. On the other hand, the robust wearable may feature a new, darker finish option as its main highlight.

Putting the iPhones and Apple Watches aside, the company could also be giving the AirPods Pro 2 a minor upgrade by ditching the Lightning port and adopting USB-C. Apart from that, we don’t expect Apple to introduce any major improvements in this department, as that typically takes a few years.

Finally, Apple is expected to announce the official release date for iOS 17 and watchOS 10, after undergoing three months of beta testing with developers and enthusiasts. Apple will likely release the Release Candidate (RC) versions of these operating systems on the same day as the event.

After the iPhone 15 event, what’s next?

It’s possible that the unveiling of the iPhone 15 in 2023 could mark the end of Apple events for the year. Reports suggest that the company may release new Macs in October via press releases, which is a format they’ve used for minor device updates before.
