Famous director Mani Ratnam’s dream project film ‘Ponniyin Selvan (PS1)’ is being released worldwide on 30 September in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi as well as Kannada and Malayalam languages. Before becoming the emperor of Chandragupta Maurya, all the stories of his brave childhood are prevalent. Similarly, there are stories of the great Chola emperor Raja Chola, whose childhood and youth showed valor, extraordinary bravery and sharp intelligence. Mani Ratnam has created the subject of the film and presented it on canvas in a grand manner. Kalki Krishnamurthy, a well-known writer from South India, wrote a hit novel on the Chola king under the name Ponniyin Selvan in several parts. This film is made on him. Efforts were made to bring this novel on the film screen in the past but it did not materialise.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha and music composer AR Rahman were seen during the film’s press conference on Saturday evening. On this occasion the director of the film Mani Ratnam said, ‘Ponniyin Selvan is my dream project. When I was studying in school, I had read about Ponniyin Selvan. Since then my dream was to make a film on this subject day by day. Many people took the initiative to make a film on this subject in the past but it could not be started. Maybe it was written in my destiny to make it.

The budget of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is being told as 500 crores. Mani Ratnam says, ‘My producer believed in me and I was able to make this film. Many people tried before but could not make it.
