Rahat was born in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. His father Walid Raftullah Qureshi was an auto driver, due to which the financial condition of his family was not that good. Rahat’s name was Kamil in childhood but later it was changed to Rahatullah Qureshi. Later on he became famous as Rahat Indori. Rahat had done two marriages. His first wife’s name was Anjum Rahbar. While his second wife is Seema Rahat. They have three sons Sameer, Faisal and Sutlej Indori. At the same time, the name of his daughter is Shibli Irfan. Like his father, Sutlej is fond of Sher-o-Shayari. Although he is a journalist by profession.

Talking about Rahat’s career, he wanted to become a painter before the poet. In the early days, he also designed posters of films and covers of books. Rahat Indori was one of those poets whose poetry came out of his pen, every aspect of life was visible. Be it friendship or love or relationships, his pen used to run fiercely on every subject.

Apart from Mushaira, Rahat has also proved his talent in Bollywood. Songs written by him were used in many superhit films. Very few people would know that the famous film director Rajkumar Hirani has written the songs of his blockbuster film Munnabhai MBBS by Rahat Indori.
