Rocket attacks near Kabul airport

The Afghan capital, Kabul, has been hit by a series of rocket attacks. One person was killed and several others were injured in a series of rocket attacks on Saturday morning. News AFP.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement that this was the second such attack in Kabul in less than a month. Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Aryan told reporters that four rockets were fired from the Lab Jar area near Kabul.

Two rockets hit near Kabul airport. It has been confirmed that several casualties have been reported. Earlier in November, at least eight civilians were killed and dozens more injured in a series of rocket attacks in Kabul.

At least 23 rockets were fired into the protected green zone at the time, according to various media reports. Various foreign embassies and business establishments are located in the area. Dozens of international companies and their employees live in the Green Zone. So there is a lot of tight security in the area. Even then, there have been several attacks in and around the Green Zone in the last few months.

In the last six months, the Taliban has carried out 53 suicide attacks and 1,250 bombings. It killed 1,210 civilians and injured 2,500 more. The Afghan government has blamed the Taliban for the attacks, but the group has denied responsibility.

Earlier this month, a group of gunmen attacked the Kabul University campus. At least 35 people were killed in the attack. Most of them were students. More than half a hundred others were injured in the attack.
