Soundarya did her early education from Ashram Matriculation Higher School in Chennai. Soundarya is the younger daughter of actor Rajinikanth and his wife Latha. He has an elder sister Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Soundarya married industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar on 3 September 2010. After marriage, she gave birth to a son in the year 2015, whose name is Veda. However, their marriage did not last long and due to differences, she got divorced from her husband in the year 2017. After two years of divorce, she again took seven rounds with actor and businessman Vishagan Vanangamudi on 11 February 2019 at the Leela Palace in Chennai.

Talking about her career, as a director in films, she was about to step into the 3D animated film Sultan, but Rajinikanth starrer this film could not be made. He then directed India’s first motion capture film Kochadaiiyaan. In this film too, his father was in the lead role. In the year 2016, he started work on the pre-production of a film named ‘Nilvukku Enamel Ennadi Kobam’ with Dhanush, Kajal Aggarwal and Manjima Mohan, but this film also got shelved later.

After this he made ‘Vellailla Pattadhari 2’ as a director which was shot in Tamil and Telugu languages. In the year 2019, he started a production company named May 6 Entertainment. He also founded a social media platform Hootee, which is based on voice messages.
