Unemployed Nupur live in flats worth crores of rupees, the gym cost is 30 thousand per month

Several victims of the scam have lodged a complaint with the law enforcement agencies. In the wake of that allegation, Hatirjheel police have recently arrested four members of the fraud ring including Nupur and her elder sister from different parts of the capital. Sources close to the investigation said that the four arrested persons had initially confessed to the matter.

It is known that they have admitted to trapping at least 25 people in this way. From two to 20 lakh rupees has been collected from them per person. Most of the people with whom Nupur cheated were influential and respected in the society. That is why they could not open their mouths for fear of respect. As a result, they were forced to pay according to the demand of Nupur.

Parveen Akhter, the ringleader of the gang, collected the names and mobile phone numbers of these people from an official of a travel agency in exchange for Nupur. Rubel Mahmud Anik, an employee of private mobile phone operator Grameenphone, collected personal information against those numbers.

Then Nupur used to call those old people on her mobile phone. Sometimes he introduced himself as a journalist, sometimes as a social worker. At the end of the introductory session, he would form a friendship. He also used to meet through various means. At one stage, Nupur used to make love with them. Trapped in love, he kept a collection of audio records of sincere conversations. Apart from this, Nupur also kept close pictures.

On December 3, a 65-year-old man filed a case at Hatirjheel police station. Police arrested four people from last Thursday to Sunday while investigating the case. They were arrested from Mohammadpur, Niketan, Ramna and Badda areas of the capital. The arrested are Parveen Akhter Nupur, 28, her elder sister Shefali Begum, 40, Shamsuddoha Khan alias Babu, 40, an employee of Perfect Travel Agency in Motijheel, and Rubel Mahmud, an employee of the customer service department of a mobile phone operator.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Harun Aur Rashid said, “If there was any problem to get the money by cheating, it would have been used.” To a fake lawyer named Isa. He used to call them and threaten to file a case against them for torturing and raping women. He is still on the run. Jesus also told fraudsters to make various false and fabricated bill vouchers. Two cases have been filed against them under the Fraud and Digital Security Act at Hatirjheel police station.

For almost five years, Nupur and her sister had been extorting money from such traps. If a person agreed to pay, Babu would collect it most of the time on behalf of Nupur. Babus and other members of the clique were paid Rs 10,000 for each job. The rest of the money was shared by the two sisters.

Earlier, Parveen Akhter Nupur had lodged a complaint with Gulshan Police Station for losing six lipsticks. It was said that the total value of lipsticks is 90 thousand rupees!

According to sources close to the investigation, Parveen has studied up to seventh class. Basically he has no profession. But he rents a flat worth crores of rupees. Her elder sister Shefali studied up to third class. He sells scarves, hijabs and burqas at Chandni Chowk Market. The unmarried Shamsuddoha lives in Shefali’s flat in Mohammadpur.
